Protest songs were a hallmark of the 60’s. Protesting against the threat of nuclear weapons and the war in Vietnam. Sadly, what goes around, comes around and here we are again - protesting about wars and events over which we seem to have little control. This song is dedicated to all those sons and daughters serving in conflicts over which they too have no control.

Where on Earth (will you spend Christmas)

Where on Earth will you spend Christmas
What kind of tree will your star shine from
Frozen wastelands - burnt out deserts
Far away from your home and land

Dear Lord and Father Of Mankind
    Forgive our foolish ways
More blood-fuelled conflicts - climate warming
    Hate and prejudice -de-forming
The world we knew has gone
Where has it all gone wrong?

Where on Earth will you spend Christmas
Are there a few words you’d like to say?
    We’ll make you headlines
    - sell your story
Until your news gets blown away

    Communication and Education
The buzz words of our time
    Have filled our minds
with scenes and crimes we thought
were consigned to the history books
    Now they dominate the news
    and poison youthful views.

Where on Earth will you spend Christmas
You should be here in your own homeland
Where have they sent you. Can you hear me
Inhale some peace in your no man’s land.

    (Chant)

    Lord and Father of Mankind
We have left our folks behind
Christmas comes but once a year
Mud and bullets aint much cheer.

    Camouflage and rat pack soup
Don’t do nothing to comfort troops
We want home – we want it now!
Ask the Boss if he’ll allow……

Where on Earth will you spend Christmas
You should be here in your own homeland
Where have they sent you. Can you hear me
Inhale some peace in your no man’s land.
